Omg is this place chocolate heaven or what?! I managed to find a great deal on Fave for only $11.20 for a $20 voucher to spend here so I went to the branch of Cocoa Colony in Somerset 313 shopping mall to try some of their chocolatey goodness that I’d heard so much about. Cocoa Colony serves a range of different cocoa drinks, coffee, tea and smoothies as well as sandwiches, pies, pasta, finger food and of course most importantly desserts 🙂 They have a variety of different cakes and ice cream, all of which are extremely tempting.
I decided on the Cocoa 76 drink ($7.90), a scoop of their Cocoa 76 sorbet ($4.90) and a slice of their red velvet cake ($8.50) because I can never resist a red velvet cake 🙂 And no I didn’t eat this all myself, although I would have liked too lol.
The Cocoa 76 sorbet, although it’s supposed to be a sorbet, it is actually more of an ice cream but maybe a little less creamy. It had a rich dark chocolate flavour, was velvety smooth and was amazingly good.
Boy oh boy was the Cocoa 76 drink goooood! It was rich but not too rich and not as rich as their Cocoa 100 drink but enough to completely satisfy any cocoa craving and is so addictive! It comes with a cinnamon stick which just adds a dash of spice to it.
The red velvet cake was a big disappointment especially considering how good the Cocoa 76 drink and sorbet had been. The sponge was dry, had no hint of cocoa in it and the frosting just tasted of sugar and didn’t have any of the cream cheese flavour or texture that you would normally find in a good red velvet cake. Otherwise apart from the cake everything was just about perfect. Service in the branch of Cocoa Colony in Somerset 313 is polite and friendly and the place itself is very spacious and not too crowded.
They even have their own merchandise so you could bring back a cup, notepad or some inspirational cards as a souvenir or gift.
I will definitely be back there to try their Cocoa 100 drink and some of their other chocolate treats!
