Lounge@Jen Singapore Ladies Night Review

At $25++ for 3 hours of free-flow sparking wine, red wine and white wine, Lounge@Jen’s ladies night in the Hotel Jen on Orchard Road is one of the cheapest ladies nights around and not only do they have this fantastic offer on Singapore’s official ladies night on Wednesdays but they also have it every Friday which is a rarity!

They are currently having an offer on StreetDeal until the 21st September where their ladies night deal is only $22.50 including tax and service charge and if you’re a VIP member on StreetDeal, it’s only $19.13! I went there last Friday to take advantage of this great deal for my friend’s birthday. I initially called the bar to make a reservation and was put through to the hotel reception who said that Lounge@Jen don’t take reservations for ladies night (even though the StreetDeal voucher said that a reservation is needed) so I emailed them to ask if it was ok for me to bring a birthday cake. I received a quick reply saying that I could bring my own cake or they could provide one complimentary. They also said they were currently accepting reservations for ladies night too so I requested for a table by the window along with the complimentary cake. Service at Lounge@Jen has certainly improved since I last tried to contact them when they first opened and received no reply.

I arrived there just before 6.30pm and the place was already buzzing with people including men as the free-flow promotion is also available for men but at a higher but still very affordable price of $35++. They also get to choose from red wine and white wine as well as beer! Hmmm do they think us ladies don’t drink beer too?? 🙂 We weren’t given a table by the window as promised but we were given a nice quiet one.

We started off with a glass of the house wine – I had the red and my friend had the white. The house red was very nice, didn’t really taste like a cheap red wine but like a good cabernet sauvignon perhaps. My friend also said the house white was good but a little too sweet for her liking.

We ordered a snack platter to share which includes chicken drumsticks, calamari, spring rolls and thick fries. I wasn’t expecting the food to be good and it was pretty disappointing. You get a measly amount of food for the $18 that it costs and most of what is on the “platter” or shall I say small plate are fries. There were only three small drumsticks, three vegetable spring rolls and three onion rings (what happened to the calamari!?). This came with two dipping sauces of mayonnaise and sweet chilli sauce.

It was nice of them to give us the free birthday cake though, it was just a simple banana cake with a candle but my friend was thrilled as it was a surprise.

We spent the rest of the evening sipping glasses of sparkling white wine and ended up staying well past 11pm although the last pour is at 9pm. The lounge is nice and dark and has a very relaxed ambiance so it’s easy to forget the time. The sparkling wine was also very good and was dry and not too sweet.

Service at Lounge@Jen was very polite and friendly although it was a little slow at times but they were very apologetic about it. The place was very busy though so they tried their best to be as attentive as possible. I will definitely be back again for this ladies night as for the cost of around two drinks elsewhere you can get free-flow here for three hours. Surely that’s too good a deal to pass up?
