Nam Nam Noodle Bar is a very popular casual Vietnamese restaurant chain in Singapore and there’s usually long lines of people waiting for a table during peak times. I finally got a chance to try the food at the branch in Raffles City shopping centre near City Hall MRT the other day as there was no queue since it was around late afternoon. I was with a group of friends and on arrival we were promptly shown to a table and given an ordering form with our table number on it. Nam Nam Noodle Bar has a good choice of different types of Vietnamese Pho noodles, Banh Mi (toasted baguettes with various fillings typical in Vietnam), other types of classic Vietnamese noodles, side dishes and desserts. They also have a few vegetarian options available.
I had the Soft-Shell Crab Noodle Soup ($13.50) and shared some side dishes of Crispy Imperial Rolls, Crispy Chicken Bites with Sriracha Mayonnaise and Crispy Fried Chicken Wings with Caramalised Fish Sauce, Sesame Seeds & Pickles all at $5.90 each. We wrote down our food and drink orders on the order form and paid at the counter at the front and all our food came out really quickly within 5 minutes.
The Soft-Shell Crab Noodle Soup was really good. The broth had a delicate crab flavour and the soft-shell crab was crispy and delicious. There was also a crab cake, piece of fried tofu, beansprouts and tomato in it and it was garnished with coriander. Although it looks like a small portion in the photo, they give you a lot of noodles and it’s very filling.

All the side dishes that we ordered were really yummy. The Crispy Imperial Rolls were crunchy, not too oily and was packed full of pork, the Crispy Chicken Bites came out piping hot and crunchy and the sriracha mayonnaise went really well with it and the best side dish was probably the Crispy Fried Chicken Wings. The skin on the chicken wings were perfectly crisp and the caramalised fish sauce gave it a strong sweet and sour flavour – I could eat these all day!
Pho Beef Combination
My friend’s Pho Beef Combination which I tried a bit of was also really good, the broth had an intense beef flavour and the beef was cooked to a perfect medium rare. I also had a sugar cane drink there which was refreshing and not too sweet.
I now know why this restaurant is so popular and so far it’s the best Vietnamese food that I’ve had in Singapore. It’s very good value for money and if you go there for breakfast between 8am and 10am it’s only $6.90 for a bowl of pho with a coffee or tea! They also do great value lunch and dinner sets too.
