Pho Street Restaurant Review Centrepoint Orchard Road Singapore

Could this new pho place be the best pho in Singapore? Well it’s definitely up there with the best and in my opinion it may well be. With branches seen popping up recently all over Singapore, the one in The Centrepoint shopping centre on Orchard Road is the latest new opening of this Vietnamese self-service restaurant chain.

Serving Vietnamese street food favourites including banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches), rice dishes, dry noodle dishes, snacks, desserts, drinks and of course pho, it has a menu to rival the extremely popular Nam Nam Vietnamese chain of restaurants here.

So far I’ve only had the pho here but from what I’ve tried it’s definitely left me wanting to keep going back for more. Their Pho Beef Combination ($9.90) which has beef balls, beef shank, beef tendons and beef tripe in it has a very flavourful broth which is perfectly balanced, not too sweet or salty and has a hint of lime. The pho is garnished with holy basil leaves which really adds to the overall flavour of the pho. The beef is always tender and cooked perfectly, the beef balls are soft and juicy and the pho noodles are chewy.

The Pho Chicken Combination ($7.90) which has chicken slices, minced chicken and chicken balls in it has a lighter but also very flavourful broth. Also garnished with holy basil, it is really tasty but I prefer the beef broth over this one as it has a stronger flavour. The chicken slices are incredibly tender and encrusted in black pepper, the chicken balls are juicy and not dry but I unfortunately found the chicken mince to be quite dry.

As for drinks there, I’ve tried the Milk Tea With Refreshing Grass Jelly Strands ($3.50). It is indeed a very refreshing drink, the tea is strong and milky, not too sweet and the grass jelly complements it perfectly.

Service at the restaurant is efficient, you fill in your order on the order sheet, pay at the cashier and in around 5 minutes you’ll have a steaming hot bowl of pho in front of you 🙂

As the photo of the beef combination clearly tells, it looks different from the menu photo. Very poor portion. $10.70 (incld tax) is quite expensive for this. I would go West Gate branch that always serve fair amount of beef combination dish.
