The Exchange Singapore Ladies Night Review

I arrived at The Exchange’s Ladies Night last Wednesday at around 6.30pm and it was already in full swing with surprisingly more men than women grabbing a drink after work. I’ve been to their ladies night a few times before but since the end of last year they’ve reintroduced their offerings of free Hoegaarden Rosée, house pour vodka as well as their usual ladies night sickly sweet martinis. Their ladies night used be free martinis, cosmopolitans and margaritas and you would be given a plastic cocktail glass which you would refill the whole night at one of the bar counters or at a stand specially set up to serve ladies night drinks. Now ladies night is a lot more refined where you can order your drinks at the bar or have them brought to you at your table – so no more queuing up with your plastic glass or having to serve yourself.

The Exchange Singapore Ladies Night Wednesday

Ladies night at The Exchange is every Wednesday from 6pm until 10pm, so it’s a good four hours long with a live DJ spinning popular club hits. As it’s located on the ground level of the Asia Square Tower 1 building near Raffles Place MRT and just next to Downtown MRT, it’s right slap bang in the heart of the CBD and therefore most of the clientele are people that work nearby. It was really busy the entire evening we were there and the bartenders were kept on their toes the whole night. The Exchange is fairly big with a restaurant area too as well as two separate bar areas with tables both inside and outside. If you want to reserve a table it may be best to call them and speak to someone directly as no-one bothered getting in touch when I tried to book online.

The Exchange Singapore Ladies Night Hoegaarden Rosee

The drinks are not bad there and they were fairly generous with the vodka too. The Hoegaarden Rosee although they came in small 250ml bottles and were a little sweet for my liking were served ice cold and hey it’s free beer so can’t complain! Plus you can have as many as you want!

The service was a bit hit-and-miss. Initially when I arrived at The Exchange I asked one of the servers in the restaurant part of The Exchange if there was a table available and he abruptly told me to go to the bar area which I thought was a little rude. The bartender that was serving us for most of the night was smiley and fairly efficient although he did sometimes forget to make our drinks and completely forgot to place our food order. We waited nearly an hour for our truffle fries to arrive so we were given them on the house since we’d waited so long. He was very entertaining to watch though with his flair bartending skills.

The Exchange Singapore Ladies Night Truffle Parmesan Fries

I’ve had the food at The Exchange on previous visits; I’ve tried their nachos and jalapeno poppers which were both good to nibble on over drinks but the truffle parmesan fries that we had the other day were a big disappointment. Although they were hot and crispy, there was no hint of truffle at all or any parmesan for that matter – definitely not worth the $14 that we would have paid!

Anyway if the service and food is an insight into what The Exchange is like on other days then I don’t think I’ll be going on a normal day but their ladies night is probably the best completely free one that you’re going to find in Singapore and it’s definitely fun to go to, just make sure you eat before/after you go!
