Greeted by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and a colourful display of macarons, chocolates, pastries, tarts, cakes and bread, if you’re passing through the Marina Bay Sands hotel lobby in tower 3 and have a sweet tooth like me, then you won’t be able to resist stopping to admire the delectable desserts that SweetSpot have on offer and indulging in one or two.
With a few locations within Marina Bay Sands, the branch in tower 3 is their main one. It has a casual atmosphere amongst the glitz and glam of Marina Bay Sands and is a great place for giving those tired feet a break after shopping around the area or for catching up with friends.
I was in the area the other day to see an exhibition in the ArtScience Museum and after walking around for hours, had a much needed coffee and cake there afterwards. They have a good range of different coffees, teas, juices and soft drinks available and besides desserts they also have sandwiches available. I got a large latte ($6.50) and a Lychee Framboise Tart ($9).
The Lychee Framboise Tart perfectly satisfied all my dessert cravings, it had a rich buttery crust, fresh raspberries and a sweet and incredibly smooth lychee flavoured mousse in the centre. The latte I had was also perfect, not too strong with a good flavour. It was probably actually one of the best coffees I’ve had in a long time!
The friend I went with had a chocolate and orange mousse cake (didn’t take note of the name unfortunately) which I tried and it was also delicious. Extremely chocolatey with lots of different textures.
Service at SweetSpot is very friendly, polite and helpful. I’ll definitely be back there to try more of their yummy cakes and for the coffee!
